Synopsis
Leo, a 17-year-old biker, and Raisa, the daughter of the pastor of a small conservative village in Romania, fall in love at first sight. But communitarianism and religious fanaticism will defeat their relationship.

Directors Biography
Roxana Stroe
Roxana studied directing at the National University of Theatre and Cinema “I.L. Caragiale” in Bucharest.
Her short films have participated in many international festivals and have won several awards. Her short film Perennial Plants, made in 2013, won the Critics Award at the International Student Film Festival CineMaiubit in Bucharest while Black Friday was named Best Romanian Short Film at the Transilvania International Film Festival in 2015.A Night in Tokoriki has obtained more than 100 festival selections (San Sebastian, Karlovy Vary, Namur…) and 25 awards.
The main characteristics of her work are the minimalist dialogues and the use of music and slow motion in key scenes.
Appalachia has been selected for the Euro Connection programme in Clermont-Ferrand 2020.
