Victoria Warmerdam

Victoria Warmerdam, born in 1991, graduated as a director and writer from the Art School in Utrecht in 2015. In the same year, she earned the Burny Bos Talent Award at the Cinekid Festival for her sci-fi feature concept, SpaceKees.
In 2019, she wrote and directed her short film, SHORT CALF MUSCLE, which has been showcased at over 150 festivals, including Oscar-qualifying ones such as Leuven, St. Louis, Winterthur, Edmonton, Gijon, Foyle, Show Me Shorts, Aesthetica, and Asiana ISFFF. This short film has garnered more than 50 international awards, with the IRIS Prize of £30,000 being the pinnacle.
In 2021, her short film SNORRIE (MUSTACHIO) premiered at the Oscar-qualifying LA Shorts and was featured in over 150 festivals, including Oscar-qualifying events like Leuven, Flickers, Uppsala, Go Short, Foyle, and Gijon. This short film also earned over 50 international awards.
I’M NOT A ROBOT marks her third film and had its international premiere at Sitges IFF, where it clinched the prestigious Best Short Film award, making the film eligible for the 2025 Oscars.

Synopsis

The new song MV starts with TY dying unexpectedly in his great house. Through the investigation process of the detective, played by Chu Pak Him, it was found that the fiancee, played by Hedwig Tam and Tony Ho, played the Butler. They are suspicious related to the death of TY. The two denied that they were involved in the incident. Hedwig Tam, his fiancee, dropped her tears during the investigation and even put on the engagement ring prepared by TY at the funeral; Butler stated he was not at the crime scene. The truth of TY’s death will be exposed, and the end of the scene foreshadows the following episode.

Synopsis

The music video is set in one of the apartments in Soviet Union Brezhnev-era panel house where a merry funeral feast takes place after a silent wedding. The characters meet in the same apartment under different circumstances and face the need of making choices trying to determine the boundaries of adequacy. The chosen era of the mid-80s works like a distorted mirror to today rhyming with the reality in viewers minds. What is adequacy, how is it determined and where are the limits of what is acceptable and who is there to judge?

I was into comedy early on and explored the genre by being a scriptwriter on TV comedy shows. Having graduated from the NY FILM ACADEMY (in New York) and BBDO WORDSHOP school, I am now an established and experienced professional.

My ambition now is not to stay within one genre. For me, the image should combine as many sub-genres as possible, becoming a multi-layered piece. Given 10+ years of filming experience, I feel confident when strong art direction, a unique approach to transitions, and complex technological solutions are required. I love working with CGI, especially in mixed media. What I also like to bring is a bit of irony and a new approach to filming even such conservative genres as cars.

Synopsis

In 1989, there were rumors saying money became joss papers when a delivery guy returned to his restaurant after delivering food order to Room 4E of Sau Lai Building which was to be disassembled. Such rumors horrified restaurant staff members nearby as they all afraid that they would receive call from the ghost someday.

Shui, who was a staff member from Chiu Fat Restaurant, however, manipulated people’s superstition, claiming that he received order from the ghost. He stole all the money after delivering food orders while replacing the money with joss papers. His boss and colleagues were shocked as they had never thought that their restaurant was chosen and cursed!

Shui found that his trick succeed and thus decided to cheat money using the same tactics again and again…

Pete Lee

Pete Lee is a San Francisco-based director and photographer. Lee grew up in Taiwan during the golden age of Hong Kong cinema and learned filmmaking by watching and copying Jackie Chan movies. He spent his twenties working with homeless youth in San Francisco’s Tenderloin district. These early experiences shaped his approach – always looking to balance kinetic stories, humor, and a lil’ tenderness in everything he shoots.
